What happens now that Windows 7 support has ended?

Now that Microsoft have officially ended support for Windows 7, users of the old operating system should be more aware than ever that continuing to use Windows 7 will make their systems vulnerable to security risks, viruses, and hardware/software failures. So what do you do now?

Well, in order to stay protected you have two options:

  1. Upgrade your current Operating System: Migrating to Windows 10 takes a bit of planning, especially if you plan on doing it yourself. There are basically three approaches:
    1. Wipe-and-load: Backup your computer, wipe your hide drive completely, install Windows 10, then restore your backup.
    1. Run an in-place upgrade: this automates the migration of user data, settings, applications, and drivers from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
    1. Dynamic provisioning: if you have one, this allows your IT department to configure new Windows 10 computers onto the domain without having to re-image those devices.

This is where TechPoint can help. We can help guide you through the planning and upgrade process to Windows 10, and make it much easier on your business and your budget. We can help to migrate your operating system and programs from older versions of Windows to the newer Windows platforms however, not many older systems will be able to run Windows 10, in which case, you’ll need to upgrade your hardware.
